Second Life
Description
A multiplayer online game that creates a virtual world, where users can engage in many of the same activities that go on in the real world. There is a functioning economy in the world, and a number of real world companies and nonprofits have an online presence here.
Uses and Potential Benefits
Some nonprofits and forprofits are starting to hold presentations in Second Life. It has also been used for fundraising - the American Lung Association raised $40,000 in Second Life recently. It's a space that people are just beginning to experiment in.
